I Love a Shepherdess

I know Corin doesn't understand this, but I'm in love. He is too old to realize what that means. There is a shepherdess, whose name is Phebe, and she is the most wonderful woman in Arden. I love her entirely.

  1. Silvius, I have loved before, and all this moping is not going to make her like you any more.

  2. No, you haven't loved before. You're too old. but fine: how many times have you done stupid things for love?

  3. I've forgotten thousands of stupid things that I've done for love.

  4. Then it wasn't love!
If you don't remember each little idiotic act, then you haven't loved!
If you haven't annoyed your readers with lamenting, as I have, then it wasn't love!
If you haven't left company abruptly, like I will now, then it wasn't love!
    O Phebe, Phebe, Phebe!

  5. I remember my first love. Her name was Jane Smile. I kissed the paddle she used to wash her clothes. I kissed that cow's udder which had felt the tease of her pretty chapped hands. I flirted with a peapod pretending it was her. We are true lovers who play strange games. Well, all the world is mortal, and who love are foolish.

  6. You do realize I can read this, right?

Oh, and by the way, you are pathetic. Leave me alone, and stop talking about me like that!

  7. I just want to be clear: I am a man. In case anyone was confused.
